Atlanta, Sept. 16, 2004 - SCANA Energy is kicking off its Georgia homework centers next week by bringing in Radio Disney as a partner at its Decatur and East Point schools to get students involved in fun, interactive learning. A SCANA Energy back-to-school event will be held at Knollwood Elementary School, 3039 Santa Monica Drive, Thursday, Sept. 23, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The partnership with Radio Disney is yet another unique way that SCANA Energy is working to support education in Georgia. Students will have an extra incentive this year to perform well with prize offerings throughout the school year, including a year-end award to the most improved student - an all-inclusive trip for four to Disney World Orlando.

At Knollwood Elementary, the homework center operates from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m., Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. The center serves 50 third through fifth grade students. "Our teachers and students are eager to start their second year of this enriching after-school program. We are particularly excited that this year our students will have the opportunity to be rewarded in an extra special way for their performance, attendance and behavior," says Dr. Cecil Clark II, principal of Knollwood.

SCANA Energy Homework Centers provide a safe and structured study environment where students can complete their class assignments and learn proper study skills. Each homework center operates with a certified teacher who is responsible for the total management of the program. SCANA Energy provides funds for the teacher, an assistant, supplemental snacks and student incentives.

Additional Georgia homework centers include elementary schools in Augusta, East Point, Macon, Rome and Savannah. The company adopted the award-winning program in 1998 from its South Carolina-based parent company, SCANA Corporation.

SCANA Energy, serving more than 450,000 customers in Georgia, is one of the largest natural gas marketers in Georgia. The company also has a regulated unit, SCANA Energy Regulated Division, selected as the state's only regulated natural gas provider.
