SCANA Energy Builds Bikes for Kids in Need for its Annual Day of Service

On April 25, SCANA Energy partnered with Hands On Atlanta and Free Bikes 4 Kidz Atlanta for the company’s third annual Day of Service. Dozens of volunteers from the organizations teamed up to use SCANA Energy’s $5,000 donation to assemble seven bicycles for kids across Atlanta.

About Free Bikes 4 Kidz Atlanta

Free Bikes 4 Kidz Atlanta takes donated bicycles, assembles or refurbishes them, and distributes them to children in need throughout the Atlanta area. Working with neighborhood groups and community organizations, Free Bikes 4 Kidz Atlanta seeks to give every child the joy, freedom, and independence that comes with owning a bicycle. The organization conducts rigorous safety inspections on each donated bicycle and provides each child with a helmet to wear while riding.

Since 2016, Free Bikes 4 Kidz Atlanta has distributed more than 5,000 bicycles to children throughout the metro Atlanta area. In 2023, the group gave away a record 1,000 bikes – a number they now seek to beat in 2024. To donate to their mission, visit
