SCANA Energy donates $100,000 to Heating Energy Assistance Team to help keep Georgia families warm this winter

ATLANTA (January 12, 2026) — SCANA Energy donated $100,000 to the Heating Energy Assistance Team, Inc. (HEAT), continuing a 25-year partnership that helps thousands of low-income families across Georgia maintain safe, reliable heat during the winter months.

“HEAT provides a critical safety net for our neighbors across Georgia, helping protect families’ health, dignity and stability when winter bills become overwhelming,” said Carol King, senior marketing professional for social impact at SCANA Energy. “This gift reflects SCANA Energy's commitment to standing alongside HEAT and helping protect the well-being of Georgia’s most vulnerable residents.”

The annual donation comes as federal support for heating assistance continues to decline. Last winter, fewer than one in five Georgia families who qualified for heating assistance from the federal government received it, and with additional funding reductions expected this year, even more households may go without government help.

“Every winter, we see families forced to choose between keeping their homes warm and covering other essentials — and no one should have to make that choice,” said Sandra Rhodes, board member of HEAT, Inc. and residential programs manager at SCANA Energy. “Community-based partnerships like this are helping us keep Georgia’s most vulnerable families warm. It doesn’t just fund assistance — it fuels hope.”
