Atlanta, June 16, 2004 - SCANA Energy and Macon-Bibb County Economic Opportunity Council Inc. are teaming up to provide free fans to low-income citizens in the Macon-Bibb County area. Box floor fans, donated by SCANA Energy, will be distributed to qualifying households during the kick-off event Monday, June 28, at 9 a.m. at Tindall Heights, 985 Plant Street (property management office) in Macon. For further information, call Macon-Bibb County EOC at (478) 738-3240.

In response to community needs for energy assistance during the summer months, SCANA Energy is partnering with Macon-Bibb EOC to help ensure cooling relief for the county's low-income households. "We are delighted to join forces again with Macon-Bibb County EOC to help support our most vulnerable communities in Macon," said Helen Stembridge, SCANA Energy's Regional Manager.

During the joint fan distribution, Macon-Bibb County EOC will hand out U.S. Department of Agriculture commodities, such as canned goods, to eligible households who did not receive these goods last month.

SCANA Energy is also uniting with other non-profit agencies throughout Georgia for similar fan donation opportunities. In its third consecutive year, SCANA Energy is joining the Atlanta Fire Department and Atlanta Mayor's Office of Constituent Services to help local communities enjoy a cool and safe summer.

SCANA Energy, serving more than 450,000 customers in Georgia, is the second-largest marketer of natural gas in Georgia. The company also has a regulated unit, SCANA Energy Regulated Division, selected as the state's only regulated natural gas provider.
