Atlanta, June 1, 2004 - SCANA Energy and Central Savannah River Area Economic Opportunity Authority, Inc. (CSRA EOA), an Augusta-based community action agency, are partnering to provide free fans to low-income senior citizens over the age of 55. Boxed floor fans, donated by SCANA Energy, will be distributed to qualifying seniors during the kick-off event on Tuesday, June 8, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Henry Brigham Senior Center, 2463 Golden Camp Road in Augusta. For further information, call CSRA EOA at 706-722-2207.
In response to senior community needs for energy assistance during the summer months, SCANA Energy is teaming up with CSRA EOA to provide cooling relief for Augusta’s senior citizens without effective household cooling measures. "We are proud to join forces again with CSRA EOA for our second annual fan giveaway event to help support our most vulnerable communities in Augusta," said Helen Stembridge, SCANA Energy’s Regional Manager.
SCANA Energy is also partnering with other non-profit agencies throughout Georgia for similar fan donation opportunities. In its third consecutive year, SCANA Energy is joining the Atlanta Fire Department and Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services to help their city’s elderly enjoy a cool and safe summer.
SCANA Energy, serving more than 450,000 customers in Georgia, is the second-largest marketer of natural gas in Georgia. The company also has a regulated unit, SCANA Energy Regulated Division, selected as the state's only regulated natural gas provider.
