Atlanta, April 7, 2004 - SCANA Energy will welcome Rome Braves mascot "Romey" to the spring closing of its homework center at North Heights Elementary School. The celebration will take place Thursday, April 29, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at North Heights, 26 Atteiram Drive in Rome.

The homework center at North Heights operates 3:15 – 4:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with two certified teachers, Heather Hackett and Deborah Childs. The center serves 30 second through fifth grade students.

"Our homework center teachers and students are excited about rejoicing in the academic accomplishments achieved so far this year. We look forward to welcoming Romey to our school to help us all celebrate together," says Rita Carter, principal of North Heights.

SCANA Energy currently operates seven homework centers in Georgia. These centers provide a safe and structured study environment where students can complete their class assignments and learn proper study skills with certified teachers, who are responsible for the total management of the program. SCANA Energy provides funds for the teachers, snacks and student incentives.

Additional homework centers include elementary schools in Atlanta, Augusta, Macon and Savannah. SCANA Energy has been sponsoring homework centers at select Georgia schools since 1998. The company adopted the award-winning program from its South Carolina-based parent company, SCANA Corporation.

SCANA Energy, serving more than 450,000 customers, is the second largest marketer of natural gas in Georgia. The company also has a regulated unit, SCANA Energy Regulated Division, selected as the state's only regulated natural gas provider.
