In Georgia, natural gas marketers (like SCANA Energy) own and sell the natural gas you use. We provide natural gas rate plan options that you can sign up for online or through a quick call. Natural gas marketers provide billing and account management and are available to answer any questions you have about your natural gas service or account. The natural gas marketer will charge you for the gas you use and a fee for managing your account.

Georgia natural gas pipeline owner and operator.

While marketers provide your natural gas plan, the natural gas pipelines in our service area are owned and operated by Atlanta Gas Light (AGL). When you schedule your service start, AGL is the one who sends out a technician to turn on your gas. They also maintain the pipeline system, so they are who you should contact if you suspect any issues with outdoor gas pipelines. AGL charges every natural gas customer on their system a fee for the maintenance of pipelines. This is charged through your marketer and passed on directly to AGL. At SCANA Energy, this is called the “AGL Pass-Through Charge.”

Atlanta Gas Light is who you should call in case of emergency. If you suspect a natural gas leak, immediately leave the premises and call AGL at 877.427.4321.

The deregulation of the market means there is no monopoly by one company on natural gas in Georgia. This helps prices remain fair across marketers. Additionally, the Georgia Public Service Commission regulates marketers and makes decisions that affect how much people pay for gas. This means that in Georgia, you can trust that you’re not over-paying for your natural gas.
