Each month, SCANA Energy donates $5,000 to a local charity. This July, we are proud to support COR as they prepare for the upcoming school year.

COR is a non-profit that believes every student in Atlanta should have the support and tools needed to overcome structural disadvantages and flourish at school and beyond. To do this, they offer resources including the CORner Store, prevention training, and the HUB to students. The CORner Store is an on-campus store at Carver S.T.E.A.M. Academy that provides free food, clothing, hygiene supplies, and resources to students, their families, and the community at large. The HUB is a school-based resource center that offers students a safe space for de-escalation and early intervention programming. It’s also a space students can use to host interest groups, study, or just hang out after school. COR’s Power of Prevention (POP) programming for students uses research-based training to help students avoid real-world situations that may put them at risk. POP training includes anti-exploitation and human trafficking, community violence prevention, comprehensive sexual health education, and Social Emotional Learning curriculums to help students develop the tools they need for success in school and beyond.

COR is currently located at the Carver S.T.E.A.M. Academy, but seeks to expand to more schools in need in the future. Learn more, get involved, and donate at whatsyourcor.org.
