A global health pandemic might change our way of life, but our focus remains the same: our customers and the communities we proudly serve. Making a difference in the lives of our community is at the heart of what we do at SCANA Energy, and that’s why we've donated $2,500 to these four organizations to aid coronavirus relief efforts in the Atlanta community. Keep reading for ways you can help your neighbors, too.
Giving Kitchen serves Georgia’s foodservice community by providing emergency assistance to restaurant workers through financial support and connecting them to community resources. They are continuing to support food service workers during this time by funneling all donations to those affected by COVID-19 and other personal crises. Interested in helping food service workers? Giving Kitchen has a list of ways you can serve.
The Atlanta Community Foodbank (ACF) is working tirelessly to keep meals on the table for seniors, children and families impacted by the coronavirus throughout the community. In addition to purchasing additional food for emergency distribution, they are partnering with schools to feed families who have lost access to school meals. Along with financial donations, there are various ways you can help this organization provide relief to those in need.
The agriculture industry has been hit particularly hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Farmer Fund usually focuses on providing relief after natural disasters, but recently formed a coalition of Georgia’s local food organizations to provide COVID-19 support for local farmers. Donations go directly to small-scale or family farms.
With many people sheltering in place and seniors experiencing increased health risks due to the coronavirus pandemic, Meals on Wheels is providing much-needed relief. The organization provides nourishing meals to low-income and homebound seniors in Atlanta who are unable to afford or access adequate nutrition. Current donations are going directly to those affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Volunteering opportunities are also available. SCANA Energy is invested in our local community. And as our community weathers the coronavirus pandemic, we’re all in this recovery effort together. Whether by donating money, volunteering our time or following social distancing guidelines to help keep each other safe, we can all be good neighbors and make a difference.
