Common Budget Billing Questions

Am I eligible to enroll in Budget Billing online?
If you have been a customer at the location in question for less than 12 months, call 1-877-467-2262 to allow a customer service representative to determine your eligibility and calculate your Budget Billing payment amount.
How is the payment amount calculated?
To determine your monthly Budget Billing payment amount, we average your 12 previous bills and the projected cost of energy over the next 12 months and spread that amount into 12 equal payments.
Are my actual charges shown on my bill?
Yes. Your bill will show your actual energy usage and charges, your total amount due and your Budget Billing payment amount. You simply pay your Budget Billing payment amount each month.
Can my payment amount due change during the year?
Normally, your payment amount is recalculated every 12 months to reflect the average actual usage and the projected cost of energy over the next 12 months. However, special circumstances may result in a recalculation during the year. For example, your monthly amount may change during the year if rate changes occur, if you add services to your account or if the amount of energy you consume changes significantly.
When is my payment amount normally recalculated?
After 12 months, your Budget Billing payment amount will be recalculated based on your actual energy charges over the previous 12 months and the projected cost of energy over the next 12 months.
What if the amount I paid is more than the actual billing amount?
If the total amount you paid during the 12-month period is more than your actual billing amount (we owe you), then we'll apply that amount to your recalculated Budget Billing payment amount for the next 12 months.
What if the amount I paid is less than the actual billing amount?
If the total amount you paid is less than your actual billing amount (you owe us), then you can either pay the difference in full or have the difference added to your recalculated Budget Billing payment amount for the next 12 months.
What if I miss a payment?
Budget Billing payments must be made in full by the due date to avoid a late payment charge of 1.5% of the outstanding billed and unpaid balance and/or being removed from Budget Billing.
