SCANA Energy Homework Center At Brookdale Elementary Hosts Wildlife Center

Atlanta, GA –- SCANA Energy will welcome the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center at its end-of-year homework center celebration on Wednesday, April 30, from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at Brookdale Elementary School on 3600 Brookdale Avenue in Macon.

The Wildlife Center specialists will present five physiographic regions of Georgia. They will bring birds and reptiles that inhabit these regions to discuss their natural environments and behaviors with the homework center students.

The Brookdale Elementary Homework Center operates from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The center serves 45 second through fifth grade students. “We are proud of SCANA Energy’s commitment and truly feel that by working together, we have made a positive and productive impact in the lives of our youth through additional educational opportunities for our students,” says Kim Tolbert, principal of Brookdale.

SCANA Energy Homework Centers provide a safe and structured study environment where students can complete their class assignments and learn proper study skills. Each homework center operates with two certified teachers who are responsible for the total management of the program. SCANA Energy provides funds for the teachers, an assistant, snacks, and student incentives. Additional Georgia Homework Centers include elementary schools in East Point, Marietta, Norcross, Rome, and Tucker.
