Atlanta, GA –- As the Official Natural Gas Provider of the Atlanta Falcons, SCANA Energy will host Falcons cornerback Robert McClain for the opening of its new homework center at LaBelle Elementary School on Tuesday, October 29.
Robert McClain, along with the Falcons mascot and cheerleaders, will visit the homework center students at the school on 230 Cresson Drive in Marietta from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. McClain will read to the students, talk about the importance of education, and answer questions.
The LaBelle Elementary Homework Center operates from 2:45 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. The center serves 30 third through fifth grade students. “LaBelle Elementary is excited to be a SCANA Energy Homework Center for the 2013 – 2014 school year. This is a great opportunity for our students who need additional support or those who have limited resources at home. We appreciate the support from SCANA Energy and the positive impact it has on helping our students meet their potential,” says Sue Stanton, principal of LaBelle.
SCANA Energy Homework Centers provide a safe and structured study environment where students can complete their class assignments and learn proper study skills. Each homework center operates with two certified teachers who are responsible for the total management of the program. SCANA Energy provides funds for the teachers, an assistant, snacks, and student incentives. Additional Georgia Homework Centers include elementary schools in East Point, Macon, Norcross, Rome, and Tucker.
