When Dawn Fisher’s 5-year-old son asked if she made “krabby patties” at work like his favorite cartoon character, SpongeBob Squarepants, she couldn’t help but smile. “No, honey,” she told her son. “Mommy spends her day listening to customers and trying her very best to help them.”
Dawn is a contact center manager for SCANA Energy. While she has many responsibilities throughout the day, she relies most on her people skills and problem-solving experience to provide customers with just one thing: outstanding service.
“I try to treat people like I want to be treated,” Dawn said. “It’s a simple philosophy, but it works. Every customer is important, no matter the reason for their call.”
Dawn said she takes pride in doing the right thing for her SCANA Energy customers. She adds that providing that level of service every day requires exceptional people. The customer relations specialists she manages, she said, all have “a passion for customer service.”
“It takes a special type of person to do the job,” she said. “There are people who just naturally enjoy helping other people. Those are the kind of people we have working for SCANA Energy.”
While customer service may not be as glamorous as, say, making krabby patties, Dawn gets a great deal of satisfaction from working with SCANA Energy customers.
“It’s a good day when you can say you’ve done the right thing for every customer,” she said. “That’s what we aim for. We want our customers to hang up the phone and say, ‘Wow, that’s a company I enjoy doing business with.’”
