Atlanta, GA, March 21, 2011...SCANA Energy will host Atlanta Thrashers and Hawks mascots Thrash and Harry respectively at its homework center at Rockbridge Elementary School on Monday, March 28.
Mascots Thrash and Harry will visit the homework center students at the school on 6066 Rockbridge School Road in Norcross from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. to present their Fast Break for Reading program, “Edutainment”. Using fun visual aids, this engaging interactive presentation is designed to help students learn the importance of reading and how it’s used in everyday life.
The Rockbridge Elementary Homework Center operates from 2:45 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The center serves 45 fourth and fifth grade students. “We are pleased to partner with SCANA Energy to help our students excel through the after-school program,” says Kelly McConnachie, principal of Rockbridge.
SCANA Energy Homework Centers provide a safe and structured study environment where students can complete their class assignments and learn proper study skills. Each homework center operates with two certified teachers who are responsible for the total management of the program. SCANA Energy provides funds for the teachers, an assistant, snacks, and student incentives. Additional Georgia Homework Centers include elementary schools in College Park, East Point, Macon, Marietta, Rome, and Savannah.
