Atlanta, GA, Sept 18, 2006 - SCANA Energy will celebrate its new homework center at Bryant Elementary School with a grand opening on Tuesday, September 26.
The celebration will be held at the school on 6800 Factory Shoals Road in Mableton from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. The event will include The Chattahoochee Nature Center’s presentation of STARLAB, an educational program that allows students to observe the sky as it would appear that evening with topics such as constellations and phases of the moon.
The Bryant Elementary Homework Center operates from 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The center serves 36 third and fourth-grade students. “We look forward to working with our educational partner SCANA Energy to help our students become better future leaders,” says Freda Williams, principal of Bryant Intermediate.
SCANA Energy Homework Centers provide a safe and structured study environment where students can complete their class assignments and learn proper study skills. Each homework center operates with two certified teachers who are responsible for the total management of the program. SCANA Energy provides funds for the teachers, an assistant, snacks, and student incentives. Additional Georgia Homework Centers include elementary schools in Augusta, Decatur, East Point, Macon, Marietta, Rome, and Savannah.
