May 17, Atlanta, GA - SCANA Energy will recognize the most improved students at its Parklane Elementary School Homework Center during an end-of-school-year celebration Thursday, May 26.
The event will be held at the school on 2809 Blount Street in East Point from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Festivities will include carnival activities and Radio Disney partner, who will entertain students and teachers with interactive games. Radio Disney will also provide a "Family of Four Vacation" drawing to Disney World Orlando for the outstanding student.
The Parklane Elementary Homework Center operates from 2:50 p.m. – 4:50 p.m. Monday through Friday. The center serves 60 third and fourth grade students. "We are proud of the enormous strides our students have made during this enriching after-school program. Our students are excited to celebrate their academic achievements with their teachers," says Lee Adams, principal of Parklane.
SCANA Energy Homework Centers provide a safe and structured study environment where students can complete their class assignments and learn proper study skills. Each homework center operates with two certified teachers who are responsible for the total management of the program. SCANA Energy provides funds for the teachers, an assistant, snacks and student incentives. Additional Georgia Homework Centers include elementary schools in Augusta, Decatur, Macon, Rome and Savannah.
