May 12, 2003, Atlanta, Ga. - Nineteen SCANA Energy employees and family members gave up their Saturday morning to participate in the first ever Arthritis Walk in Georgia. The 5K walk, held May 10 at Stone Mountain Park, helped raise money for the Arthritis Foundation's efforts to find a cure for the disease. SCANA Energy employees raised $1,710 through pledges and donations.

"Our employees are a compassionate group of people," said George Devlin, vice president and general manager of SCANA Energy. "They rose to the challenge and exceeded our fundraising goal, taking to heart SCANA Energy's commitment to serving our community."

SCANA Energy was also a local corporate sponsor of the event. At the walk, employees staffed the SCANA Energy booth and gave away promotional items such as caps and seat cushions and distributed sign-up brochures for the company's services. The Doubletree Hotel provided cookies for SCANA Energy walkers and donated incentive coupons for free weekend night stays at the hotel for the top two SCANA Energy donors.
