With a variable rate, your rate can change monthly depending on changes in the gas market. The benefit is that your rate could go down below the fixed rate because of market conditions. However, it could also go up.
With a low fixed rate that's guaranteed not to change for 12 months*, you pay the same every month regardless of fluctuating natural gas prices.
*SCANA Energy uses billing cycles to determine the length of a fixed rate plan. A billing cycle is approximately one month, but the actual number of days may vary with each billing cycle. Customers who establish service may receive an initial statement for less than a complete billing cycle or month.
